Michelle Rogers was a national NCAA statistical champion.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Union College shortstop Michelle Rogers (Clarence, NY), who will be a senior in the 2009 season, is the 2008 NCAA Division III Softball Statistical Champion in Doubles Per Game. In addition, the Dutchwomen were the team champions in Batting Average, Scoring and Doubles Per Game. As a team, Union led all of NCAA Division III with a batting average of .399, an average of 8.89 runs per game and 2.61 doubles per game. Union led all three divisions in batting and doubles per contest.



Dave Riggi named Head Men's & Women's Cross Country and Track & Field Coach

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Dave Riggi has been named the Head Men's & Women's Cross Country and Track & FIeld Coach at Union College. Riggi, who previously has served as the head coach for both cross country programs and the women's track & field program, now assumes duties for all four sports. He succeeds Larry Cottrell, who has retired as the men's track & field head coach.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union College head women’s ice hockey coach Claudia Asano has announced that 12 student-athletes will make up the class of 2012. Seven forwards, three defenders and two goaltenders will join the Dutchwomen this fall. The list includes three players from Ontario, two each from Illinois, Massachusetts and Minnesota, and one player each from New Brunswick, New York and Saskatchewan.

TAMPA, Fla. – Union College Sports Information Director Eric McDowell was awarded the 25 Year Award from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for a quarter century of service to the sports information profession Wednesday at the group’s annual convention. One of only 20 national honorees, McDowell was presented his award by CoSIDA President Charles Bloom of the Southeastern Conference at the CoSIDA Awards Luncheon at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina.
